1 bright red and black bird
Wok up too late for the 'continuous' breakfast but we got up pack our things and took another shower to wash the norovirus off. We laid around for a little while before check out and later went to waffle house. At waffle house I couldn't make myself eat more than a few bites. The rain started to pour as we headed across town to Kroger so that Dr. And Tomahawk could resupply. After talking with about 5 different curious locals we headed back to the Howard Johnson or the Hojo and waited on 2shanes to show up. Hiking out of town I felt like at any moment I was going to throw up off the side of the trail. I was sweating really hard and getting dizzy. I think I still had to sweat out some of the gunk. Our whole group filled up the shelter and we had a rave in our sleeping bags with our flashing headlamps. Definately glad that 2shanes is back. We always have so much fun when were all together.

3 white moths
Woke up early and packed up while we watches 10 boyscouts argue about things. I got eaten alive by bugs last night. I have 23 bites on my left arm and 32 on my right arm. We walked really fast today but we took tons of breaks. We all fell asleep on a island on the blue ridge parkway for about 2 hours before walking the final 2 miles to the shelter. We get to go auqa blazing tomorrow. 2shanes has a friend that has 2 kayaks and is going to pick us all up and give us a ride to town to the boat rental place so that we can all go. Im so excited. By going down the James river we do 40 miles of the A.T in a boat!
Woke up at 6 and hauled ass to meet 2shanes friend. He piled all of us into his car and we went to the twin river outfitters after making a trip to the burger king down the street. We rented a conoe for 95 and we all hopped in our floating vehicles and made our way down the James river. We went through a couple of class 1 and 2 rapids which were a lot of fun and refreshing to use our arms for a change! We stopped at a rope swing and all jumped and did flips off of it. I forgot how much fun a rope swing was. The guy at the outfitters told us that even his most experienced kayakers were not able to do the whole river in one day. We floated most of the day all attached to each other and floated way too far down the river and missed all the free public camping. We past some kids that were yelling at us, pretending to drown, and had a fire going on the banks. We made sure they were okay but then the skinniest kid at was pretending to drown started threatening to kill us with his 30 30 and started screaming obscenities at us. We just paddled away and stopped at the first place that we could have gotten our boats picked up, at the Marruy river intersection and camped there for the night. 2shanes and tomahawk walked down to the gas station and reported the kids wondering if anyone knew that they were out there and got pizza. Later some cops came to our camp to ask us more questions about where the kids were. Apparently the kid that was threatening us was kicked out of school his last week because we brought an airsoft gun to school and was threathening kids there. The cops just went back to tthe road and didn't try to walk down the path to where the kids were. They were probably long gone anyways. The lightening storm rage on us for about 30 minutes. I've never heard thunder so fast after lightening in my life. It was almost at the exact same time and soo loud!
Auqablazing + 2 miles
We woke up late and laid around before throwing everything in the conoe and heading down the river. After a few more class 2 rapid we got to a huge rock feild and then there was a class 3 rapid that the saftey video we were supposed to watch told us to get out and scout how we were going to go down it. Dr. Went down and almost made it all the way to the bottom in the kayak before flipping over. Tomahawk and NutsOn went down in their conoe and everything was fine until they hit the rapid directly after the class 3 and their boat filled ankle deep. We took the sneak around and met everyone else trying to dry their things. Then we paddled the rest of the James river and pulled out at the James River footbridge. The outfitters guy wasn't too excited when we pulled up. I guess because tomahawk and NutsOn's conoe was filled with beer cans. We laid out in the grass and took naps while we waited on 2shanes friend to pick up he kayaks. Tomahawk and 2shanes went to town and brought back some pizza I ate and then we hiked 2 miles up the the next shelter and filled it up once again and had another awesome stormy night of giggling and getting eaten alive by bugs.
Woke up and got to walking in the rain. We were in the clouds for most of the day. The sun came out as we got closed to town. We climbed up into town which was definitely different since we always have a huge change in elevation downhill into town. We got a ride into town from the Bluedog Cafe lady and she talked a lot of baloney about the Budget Inn. She said that we wouldn't be able to get a room and that they were going to overcharge us. Which turned out to not be true we got a great deal and tomahawk, dr, NutsOn and turbo and I stayed in an actually really decent room. The bluedog lady only had room for 3 of us I guess she knew she was losing money because we have such a large group compared to others now. We went to Mexican and came back to the room after resupply at the family dollar and watched the thunderstorm.

We woke up late after a great nights sleep and went to the dollar store for dr. And tomahawk to resupply then we tried to hitch for about 10 minutes before some guy pulled over with a huge truck and asked us if we needed a ride to the trail head. We all piled in and started hiking. About 7 miles in the guys all thought that we could pull off a 20 mile day and I thought they were crazy we didn't have enough day light. We kept walking and I met up with all the guys at the 14 mile shelter and they were all set up in the shelter and admitting I was right since it was 7:15. I was really tired by the time I got there that I just sat in the shelter for about 10 minutes before trying to unpack my things. The hills of Virginia have been easy until now, the elevation change is becoming more dramatic.
Woke up after everyone else and packed up and slowly ate breakfast. It was a little chilly and windy last night and we woke up to the same conditions. It was hard to get out of the sleeping bag. I guess was a nice change but still sucked to get out. We spent most of the night last night trapping and throwing out mice. NutsOn bought a package of mouse traps and set them up in the shelter and we caught 3 mice and one bit tomahawk. The morning was pretty easy until we got to the preist. Which wasn't an amazing view either. The view at McAfees Knob was so beautiful that I feel spoiled now. We were running a little behind on sunlight so we decided to take a blue blaze. The mau-hai trail I think is what it was called was 3 miles of undetermined elavation vs the three ridges mtn which was 7 miles up and over a huge elevation change. So we took the other trail which was really rough 45 degree angle straight up and down until we got to the shelter where it joined back up with the a.t. We flew down the last hill and started to hitchhike the 5 miles down the road to the brewery where our friends were hanging out. We git a ride from a guy named Glenn that offered us a place to stay. We stayed at Mill Hill Farm. We stayed in a really cool slave house that has been restored. Its absoultey georgous. Looks like some where you rent to stay in the mountians. Cept im in the Virginia valleys.
Slept in and enjoied the really comfty bed we slept in. We decided to 0 pretty quickly. Glenn gave us a ride to the grocery store. Were having steak, chicken and hotdogs along with alot of other food we bought. We laid around the hammock and all piled in the living room area and watched the world cup. We all ended up taking a nap and then going fishing until it got dark. We only caught 2 fish. We sat around eating until we could eat any more and then went to bed.
