Almost all of James' family came to see us off which was pretty awesome to feel the support of that many people. Papa is with us,and were we doing approximately 10 miles a day. It was a little bit of a rough day because of the weather. It was drizzling when we first set off, then it started raining and then it started sleeting! I toughed it out and was able to keep myself warm by walking. Then it felt like it dropped to 40 degrees and James couldn't feel his fingers. Once we got to Stover Creek shelter and put on all our warm clothes, which kept us warm. Im ready for some food, meeting people and bananas!
Im counting snails for the entire trip. After a noisy, almost sleepless night, we all woke up to frost on the ground and a thin layer of ice on the ground and on our food bags. Eating breakfast was unappealing in the frigid weather. Once we got going this morning it was great. I don't think I've ever been so happy to see the sun.
Woke up sore with not much more sleep but it was cold again and James had started the fire. I didn't eat a lot yesterday so this morning I was sick and my stomach wasn't happy. After stopping at a privy down the trail I was empty, feeling a little hungry, and tired. We stopped at Gooch Gap and I ate most of a poptart and laid down for awhile. I felt pretty good by this point. Then we punched out those miles and got to camp. It was pretty packed but we ended up meeting some pretty cool people including a new buddy that's going about our pace (Cape). Kelly is quite interesting character she showed me her she-wee thing and she pees in her tent into a jar. Lol. That was definately something I never thoight about. We saw 2 hawks flying around when we were laying on Ramrock mtn. Finally meeting some other thru-hikers was very encouraging. Blood mountian and neels gap tomorrow!
2 cow birds
2 honey bees
finally got some awesome sleep last night at Lance Creek and pushed over the mountians today Blood mtn. was beautiful and we took a relaxing break on top. We got down to Neels Gap reserved a cabin 4 ways with new buddy Cape. That shower was so amazing. I ate a philly cheese steak sub, a ham burger, 2 slices of pizza and two glasses of coke. I'm shaking! Its crazy how much caffiene effects you even only after 4 days of hiking. On to good conversation and a good night of sleep! Pictures will come as soon.
